Twitter Cleared Out Scam and Spam Accounts
Have you ever noticed followers who are following thousands with no tweets of there own. Or maybe you have noticed followers who are following thousand and not following anyone else. Or maybe you have noticed both. Well, twitter did a clean up. AlariaSun wrote “How can you lose nearly 400 followers in the course of 4 or 5 hours?”. The answer is — when Twitter does a scam/spam clean up.
I’m guessing that many of the scam accounts have some type of auto-follow in play because it makes no sense to follow thousands with no real interaction with them. Trust me, you will not miss the spam accounts useless you like showing off your high twitter followers number. Other than that, they were not much use at all. Scam accounts don’t read your tweets, reply to tweets, retweet, or add any type of real value.
I’m wondering how often Twitter will running the “cleaning scam” or whatever Twitter is calling it. I’m just glad that Twitter is on top of the spam issue.
From the Twitter Update Status page, Twitter writes :
… as we correct for spam accounts and data inconsistencies no legitimate followings should be affected—we’re just cleaning up artifacts in the system.
