… There are a lot of deceiving headlines out there right now. Here’s an example — Uncovered Video: Obama explains how his health care plan will ‘Eliminate’ private insurance. Linda says, nothing can be farther from the truth. People are taking sentences and phrases out of context or mixing them together to leave a very false impression.
The truth is — the President has been talking to the American people a lot about health insurance reform and what is at stake for them. So, what happens is — because the President is talking to the American people so much , people are taking bits and pieces of what the President has said and coming up with some scary headlines that are not true.
Here’s a transcript from a clip (July 28, 2009) — President Obama talking about Health Care Reform said, Here is a guarantee that I will made — if you have insurance that you like, then you will be able to keep that insurance. If you have a doctor that you like, then you will be able to keep that doctor. Nobody is trying to change what works in the system. We are trying to change what does work in the system.
Here’s another transcript from a clip (June 23, 2009) — President Obama talking about Health Care Reform said, The public plan, I think is an important tool to disciple insurance companies. What we have said under our proposal is — Let’s have a system, the same way that federal employees do — same way that the members of Congress do, where we call it an exchange or you can call it a market place. It’s where you have a whole bunch of different plans, if you like your plan and you like your doctor then you would have to do a thing. You can keep your plan and your doctor. If your employer is providing you good health care insurance, that is terrific. We are not going to miss with it.
