Internet Freedom Net Neutrality
Net Neutrality issues are heating up in Washington. What is Net Neutrality? Here is the background story. The way the Internet works today is that everyone is connected to each other through the same level play field. The field is the Internet. However, a handful of big communication companies want to change all of that. The big communication companies want to lock down parts of the Internet and charge service fees for access. If you’re not willing to pay, you will be in the slow lane, and locked out of some parts of the Internet. This is all being proposed by killing Net Neutrality
Net Neutrality Breakdown
You currently connect to the Internet through a series of pipe (fiber-optic wires) owned by big communication companies. As of today, they own the wires not the data that flows through them. The proposal by the big communication companies is to set-up a “fast lane” that will only be accessible by their partners and subscribers. Meaning, you would have to pay a fee to exchange data in the “fast lane”.
However, people are standing up over the proposed death of Net Neutrality — Save the Internet.com. Over 2 million of Americans has petition Congress to protect the existing Internet. Today, supporters of Net Neutrality are trying to make Net Neutrality the law. Therefore, big communication companies can’t lock us out. If you like the Internet the way it is today share this article.
