I’ve been reading some comments on blogs that say “Death Of A Blog“. Is the blog dying? No, it’s just changing. Blogs are changing with the new social media networks that are available to us like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn. Even the way we post comments are changing. Below we are discussing the “Death of A Blog“, “Death Of the Comments“, Plugins for Blogs, and Blog Templates.
Comments.blog

Okay, you have set-up a wordpress blog and now your comments are rolling in. What do you do with all those comments? For starter, you need a plugin called Askimet. The Askimet plugin helps eliminate the junk comments on your blog. Once you have successfully eliminated the junk comments you need to put your comments to work for you.

Put Your WordPress Comments To Work
What good is having people comment on your blog with no benefit to you. sometimes, I tweet my visitor comments. This is a great way to attract more traffic to your blog. Sometimes, visitors say it best.
So, no more talk about “Death of the Comments“. Although many blogs have included the no-follow feature, with a little work (twittering your comments) you can increase your exposure.
Templates/Blog
Wordpress and many developer have design and offer for free different wordpress blog templates. All blog templates are written in PHP. With a little know who, you can take one of the pre-design templates and make it your own. When searching for a good blog template to use, keep in mind the look and feel you are after. Chose a blog template that works best for your type and style. I choice this blog style because I write about many topics. This blog template works for me because it does a nice job listing the categories. some blog templates I looked at ran all the categories along the top — and that didn’t look nice and clean. I also added several line of php code to the blog template to help personalize it to my needs and usage.
Death Of the Blog
The blog is not dead. I don’t know who came up with the phrase “Death of the Blog, but it’s simply not true. However, social media is changing the way blogs function. In order to reach new traffic highs, you must get use to using social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn. Not to mention keyword research. I recently, befriended most of my high school graduating class on Facebook. Now, every time I post a new blog post, those friends go to see what it’s all about. You don’t have to manually post your blog link to twitter. There is a wordpress plugin called “Twitter Tools” that you can set-up to post links of every post you write to twitter. I aslo set-up twitter to post to Facebook. So, now when I hit publish, both Facebook and Twitter is updated with the blog title with a link to it.
Death of the Blog is simply not true. Blogs are forever changing with the new innovative web. As long as you are keeping pace your blog will increase in traffic.
